Common Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) Injuries and Symptoms:

Regardless of how you feel, it's important to book an examination with your provider right away. You may have pain right away, or you may feel just fine. However, this can be caused by your body releasing adrenaline and masking your pain. These symptoms may change and continue to change for the next 2-3 months. According to the Government of Alberta, 9.5% of car crashes resulted in non-fatal injuries. The longer you wait, the worse your pain may be. It’s important to monitor yourself for any symptoms over the next few days and seek treatment as quickly as possible.

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING YOUR VISIT:
FIRST APPOINTMENT - INITIAL EXAM
From the moment you get here we will walk you through every step required so everyone is on the same page.

When you visit us for the very first time to start your recovery, you will be asked to fill out a patient information form similar to one that you would expect from any healthcare facility. You will be asked to provide information as accurately as possible to help give our chiropractors a better idea of your overall health and well-being.

Once you’re done, our chiropractor will conduct an initial history of what's bothering you. You will be asked about what symptoms you are experiencing and whatever details of the accident that you can provide, among other things. For this recovery, you may want to bring any medical certificates that you were issued after the car accident.

Our chiropractor will then examine you to see if your particular injury will respond well to automobile injury recovery chiropractic care. This exam may test your range of motion, muscle tone, muscle strength, and neurological integrity. X-rays, MRIs, or other laboratory tests may be necessary. If you have already undergone such tests, kindly bring the results with you.

Based on the results of the interview and exam, our chiropractor will develop a personalized chiropractic treatment plan that best addresses your injury and works best for your body type. Our chiropractor will also provide you an estimate of how many treatment sessions you’ll need and how frequently you will need them.

Associate Chiropractic Clinic is here for you when you need us! If you would like to set an appointment, kindly get in touch with our office on the Contact Us page or Book Online!

SUBSEQUENT VISITS
Follow up treatments will be performed based on the treatment plan set up at the Initial Visit. These treatments are accounted for from the allotted 21 treatments. They may involve manual methods such as spinal and/or extremity adjustments, soft tissue therapy including Active Release and other modalities, and in some cases, spinal decompression using specialized equipment to manage disc or degenerative conditions. If manual treatments are not preferred or pain is too high, Activator treatment will be implemented. Remedial exercises are often introduced at the right time and further home care instructions will also be discussed.

Some conditions respond quickly to chiropractic, while others may take some time like whiplash from an auto accident. The doctor will try his best to get you back up to pain free, full movement status as soon as possible.
Delayed Symptoms that should not be ignored and should be examined by a chiropractor.
